About

The BGSU Weblog and Podcast System was created by Terence Armentano, Assistant Director of Distance Education (IDEAL) at Bowling Green State University. Built on the rock solid technology of WordPress, this system enables faculty, staff, and students to use cutting edge, user friendly technology, to easily create academic weblogs and podcasts.
The benefits of blogs and podcasts are far reaching and are transforming the way people interact and learn from each other. BGSU faculty, staff, and students can all reap benefits from blogging and podcasting. The following are examples of ways blogs and podcasts can be used:
- Blogs can be used as a portfolio to capture and publish creative expressions via text, audio, video, and images.
- Blogs can be used to create a professional journal for your organization.
- Blogs can be used to easily share resources, insights, and information and receive feedback.
- Blogs enable the ability for people to archive and retrieve what they have learned. Gone are the days of in one ear and out the other. Post it on your blog, tag it, and use the blog search engine, archives, or category listing to easily find it again.
- Blogs allow for people to instantly access your content because they use RSS technology, enabling readers of your blog to subscribe and get the content sent to them as soon as it is uploaded.
- Blogs can be used as a personal website.
- Blogs can be used to host discussions with people from all over the world… International collaboration.
- A blog with an audio file embedded in it becomes a podcast, enabling people to use iTunes and other podcatchers to download audio files to their computer and mp3 players.
- Blogs and podcasts support mobile learning.
- Podcast lectures and guest speakers.
- Create a podcast show for your class where students discuss what they are learning each week.
- Podcast interviews.
- The potential is only limited by our own imagination!
BGSU is dedicated to keeping on the forefront of technology and education and meeting and exceeding the needs of our students. We are dedicated to developing the future leaders of this information-based economy.
